Casey Mears made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series in 2001, before hitting that circuit full-time in 2002. He got behind the wheel for Chip Ganassi in the Cup Series in 2003 and had his best season in 2005, with nine top-10 finishes and three top-five placings. In 2006, Mears jumped from the No. 41 Dodge to the No. 42 Dodge for Ganassi Racing.
